Congratulations for making it to Day 42 of the Learn Spanish Challenge! Because you have made it this far, I am going to assume that learning Spanish is important to you. You haven taken action and hopefully you’ve practiced with someone. By doing this, you risk making grammatical errors, and you will probably make a few. However, the reward far outweighs the risk. Put yourself out there.

Don’t allow those feelings to get in the way of work and personal achievement.

¡Qué chevere! (How awesome!) You made it to Day 39! A common reason that people give up is because they don’t see nor find joy in progression. They want to achieve that ultimate goal, but it seems like it will require too much pain, sacrifice and time to get there. Celebrating doesn’t necessarily mean having some big, lavish celebration for every little thing you do. Take a moment and smile. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back. Be proud of yourself.

¡Qué chevere! (How awesome!) You made it to Day 38! If it seems like you are going really slow and it’s taking you forever to learn Spanish, then remember this quote. It just might make you smile too. Even though it is a bit more applicable to physical fitness, it’s still applicable to learning Spanish. Remember that it takes time to become fluent. Anybody who tells you they became fluent in a couple of days is either a genius or a fraud.

Encourage yourself and have a positive attitude. When you don’t have a positive attitude and you start making excuses for yourself, you’ll quickly learn how easy it is to make excuses and stop progressing.

Congratulations for making it to Day 33! I think today’s quote is obvious, but sometimes it’s good to be reminded of the obvious. There are some results that you know will come from learning Spanish, and there are some that you don’t know. You don’t know who you might meet, what experiences you might have and what you might do as a result of learning Spanish.

Today Dave guides you through more of the Communication section. You will be working on Unit 2. Dave also invites you to watch some Spanish television. This is a great opportunity to tune your ear to the Spanish language. I get a considerable amount of emails from people who have questions and are trying to directly translate everything from Spanish to English and English to Spanish. I remind them that it’s best to avoid direct translation, especially when dealing with complete sentences and phrases. When you are watching Spanish TV, avoid translating and try to get the gist of what’s being said.
